Singapore Airlines was Fortune magazine’s 17th most admired company in 2007. It has the world’s largest carrier in terms of market capitalization. It is the sixth largest in the world for carrying international carriers and the eighth largest carrier in Asia. Singapore airlines is the trendsetter in its sector for its safety, innovation, profitability and it maintains an impressive list of credentials in the airline industry.

In 1947, Malayan Airways opened for business with a chartered flight from Kuala Lumpur. The airline was brought about by an incorporation of Imperial Airways, Ocean Steamship Company of Liverpool and Straits Steamship Company of Singapore, and the airline expanded until 1972, when political strife caused them to change the company to Singapore Airlines.

Currently the Singapore Airlines fleet includes 76 aircraft with an average age of less than six and a half years of use. SAI has a policy of keeping a young fleet, so it renews is fleet often. Singapore Airlines recently spent $570 million revamping its cabin and in-flight service.

Unlike any other airline in the world, Singapore’s Airline Suites offer travelers a private area blocked off from other passengers. These compartments have been designed by a world renown luxury yacht designer and are only available on the Airbus A380. They include leather seats and an LCD television along with a bed and various other first class features.

First class comes in three other variations on Singapore Airlines. The New First Class features leather and mahogany seats with LCD TV screens. Seats fold out into a flat bed. First Class SkySuites recline into a bed, offer LCD TV screens, and are upholstered in leather.

Now you will have an entirely different experience with new business class facilities. You will be provided with new leather seats which can be reshaped to form flat beds. Moreover, you will have access to USB ports along with personal TV screens. The Ultimo business class seats do not offer flat bed features.

Economy class seating has personal television screens, footrests and adjustable headrests. Newer seats also offer in-seat power. All classes offer World Gourmet Cuisine featuring regional dishes and popular local fare.

There are two frequent flyer programs currently being offered by Sigapore Airlines. They include the KrisFlyer and the PSS Club.KrisFlyer miles are earned and cashed in on SAIs services and KrisFlyer associates which comprise; Star Alliance members, SilkAir, Virgin Atlantic, hotels and car rental firms. For the customers who choose to fly Airline Suites or Business Class on both Singapore Airlines and SilkAir, they earn PSS, Priority Passenger Service value points.
