The world\’s highest tides are over 50 feet and can be found in the Bay of Fundy. In 6 hours, the Fundy tides rise over 22 times higher than the typical tides found in open seas. Eighty square miles of land along the bay\’s west coast are know as Fundy National Park. This park was established in 1948 and protects this piece of unique nature, where the tides and chilly waters have produced the ideal environment for salt and freshwater wetlands, coastal spruce and fir forests, along with a rocky, cave-pocked shore where the enormous tides have carved large rocks into fantastic shapes.

At Alma Beach, the contrast between low and high tide is so sensational that people have the ability to wander nearly three-quarters of a mile across the tidal flats towards the water\’s edge–then kayak that whole way some hours later, when 100 billion tons of tidal water have raced back in, producing a roar during mid-tide called the \”voice of the moon.\” You can find plant fossils millions of years old within the ancient sandstone rocks at the ocean\’s edge, and offshore, at low tide, bird watchers can observe how crustaceans trapped as a result of the ocean\’s retreat feed huge numbers of migratory shorebirds.

Nearby Alma, the park provides a manicured look, with gardens, natural stone walls, and quite a few sports activities, like golf and tennis, while offshore you\’ll be able to select from whale watching (the Bay of Fundy offers the most significant population of right whales anywhere), sea kayaking, and canoeing. Walking opportunities are plentiful, with 78 miles of trails cris-crossing the park\’s eight miles of bayside coastline as well as its hilly inland, whose rolling plateau is slashed by fast-flowing streams and deep valleys.

Those wanting scenery with less challenge can take the Fundy Coastal Drive from St. Stephen to Aulac, passing through not only natural beauty but some lovely towns as well, including the 19th-century village of St. Andrews with its distinguished Fairmont Algonquin Hotel. Built in 1889 to lure wealthy vacationers away from the city heat, the Algonquin is a manor-style gem, with a red-tile roof and bay views from the upper floors. If you\’d prefer something smaller, the Kingsbrae Arms is consistently rated as one of the area\’s best accommodations. Built in 1897, it has just eight units, all decorated with upscale good taste and offering lovely views of the bay. Next door, the Kingsbrae Garden offers 27 acres of flowers and views.

The Hopewell Rocks, forty miles northeast of Fundy National Park, are a number of immense boulders topped by trees and made concave at the bottom through hundreds of years of tidal erosion. These are by far the most photographed Bay of Fundy landmark. Local Mi\’kmaq legend tells us that the boulders were once men, who were turned to stone after they tried to break free from the whales that enslaved them.

When taking a taxi in Cancun, agree upon the price of the journey before leaving. Make sure you are both clear on the currency payment will be made in. There is a huge difference between 50 pesos and 50US dollars. If you decide to go to the bar, keep an accurate count of the drinks you consume. It is very common for servers to remove a half finished drink when the customer isn\’t looking, thus forcing them to order another. \’Shot Girls\’ are another fun scam common to Mexican bars. These women will target male tourists and gladly pour shots down your throat in a seductive manner, and later on hand over a bill charging several US dollars for each poor quality shot. Plus a hefty tip. Every time you make a purchase, whether it is drinks or souvenirs, check your bill thoroughly to make sure to correct amount of items were charged for.

Do you know what \’Pica Pica\’ is? Or \’Agua Male\’? They are all sea lice by another name, but just as itchy and just as annoying. Sea lice are not actually lice, but rather the microscopic larvae of the thimble jellyfish. They float freely in the ocean through the spring and summer months (March to August). The trouble occurs when they get caught in the bathing suite. The fabric acts as a net and causes the creatures to sting, leaving large red welts and blisters, often in the most sensitive areas. There is a product on the market that claims to be the only solution to the marine stingers, as well as other harmful jellyfish.

If you are seeking a quiet get away at Cancun Palace or Gran Bahia Principe Tulum, do not go during Spring Break. If you want a romantic honeymoon with your new spouse, do not go during Spring Break. If you are planning a family vacation including small children, do not go to Cancun during Spring Break. If you are a college or university student looking for a way to blow off steam before the final semester of the year, you should go to Cancun during Spring Break. Cancun is listed as the second most popular destination for students from the US and Canada during Spring Break and therefore the resort town becomes party-central for Mexico. Cancun becomes loud, full of debauchery and drunken hijinks at that time. Avoid it, unless that is the sort of fun you are seeking.

Now that we have covered some things to avoid in Cancun, let\’s take a look at some things that are recommended as safe. The most obvious would be the Hotel Zone. It is a 14 mile stretch of land that lies between downtown Cancun and the airport. It is lined with hotels, resorts, restaurants and a few shops. Shopping malls within the zone are also safe. Visitors often walk around the Hotel Zone, even at night, although it is advisable that women do not walk around at night, especially when alone.

As a rule, Cancun beaches are generally safe areas. Walking the white sands and looking at other hotels lining beach is a popular pastime with travelers, and quite safe to do so. The only time to avoid the beaches are when there are red flags posted on the beach. If you see the flags, it means dangerous weather is expected and you should not enter the surf.

Isla Murales is a small island just nine miles from Cancun and can be reached by ferry. Located on the island is a small town with a few restaurants and a bit of shopping. The beaches are breathtaking and rest assured the island is a safe and relaxing place to spend the day.

As a Biker I love to take long Rides on my 2007 Harley Davidson, Nightrain. Some times a trip to Connecticut where one has the freedom of choice to decided if they want to wear a Helmet or not is a great place to go. Often I head up to the NY Catskill Mountains, Where a Burger and a Beer at Nicks Waterfall House in West Conesville can be the perfect end to a day of Cruising threw the Mountains.

Then there is another of my Favorite places to ride to, The Lake George NY area. My Uncle has a small Cabin in the Mountains right outside of the town of Lake George where I often stay. The area has some great long and winding roads for riding, These roads will relax even the most stressed Motorcycle rider.

There is so much history to the Lake George NY area. While on a trip one year riding around with no real destination in mind, I found myself in front of Fort Ticonderoga (fort-ticonderoga.org). Being very interested in American History I had to stop in and take the tour. The Fort was built between 1755 and 1759 and has plenty of stories to tell. It had a big roll in the American Revolution. As I walked around the Fort the I could almost imagine I had traveled back to the 18Th Century, The things I learned reminded me of the sacrifices our fore Fathers made to secure the Freedoms we enjoy and let slip threw our fingers every day.

Another thing I like to do is ride on some of the less traveled roads. Riding on a road where you see nothing but Forests and small Waterfalls for miles is very relaxing. I like to search out small little Dinners and eatery’s, Stopping at them and trying some of the foods they have to offer.

I recently met up with my Mother, Sister, Brother, Nieces, Nephew and other members of my family at the Lake George Escape Evergreen Resort Campgrounds (LakeGeorgeEscape.com), I found it a great places for me to relax for a few days. There where plenty of activities for the kids and many activities I could enjoy with the kids. In the resorts game room I won my Nieces and Nephew many prizes and I played (or maybe Battled is a more accurate word) Air Hockey with my younger Brother in the game room for hours. The resort has a pond and two pools to Swim in. Each week at the resort during the Summer has a thyme and while we where there it was Halloween week. The Camp Grounds has Nightly Hay rides around the Camp Grounds and since it was Halloween week my Brother came up with the idea of throwing out candy to all the kids as we took a Hay ride around the grounds one night. The Cherry on the top of this great resort has to be the on Grounds full service Tiki style Bar where most Nights they had a DJ to help keep the party going!

Many other things I have stopped to enjoy while riding around and staying in the Lake George area is White Water rafting, Hiking and many Trips to Six Flags Great Escape & Splash Water Kingdom. The park was known as Storytown USA when it first opened in 1954. As a Kid I used to love to watch the gun fights in its old western area known as Ghost town. The park may be much larger now and have many modern day Rides and attractions, but all the old Story town, Jungleland and Ghost town areas from the 50′s and 60s are still there! Then of course there is the town of Lake George it self with many great stores for shopping including a new shop I found last year called DILLIGAF’s. Many Arcades, Museum’s, Para Sailing, Night Clubs and Many Places to eat including some Waterfront Restaurants. Now in my opinion no trip to Lake George can be Complete without a Paddle wheel Cruise on the historic and scenic Lake George itself. The lake is known as the Queen of American Lakes. There are Two maybe three Companies you can use, But I recommend you take your trip on the Lake George Steamboat Company’s (lakegeorgesteamboat.com) Minnie-Ha-Ha. I have Pictures of me getting on this Boat with my Family that go back many years.

Your first vacation with your baby can be exciting and it also takes some advanced planning to ensure its success.

Our list of 10 things to consider will help you plan a successful vacation for you, your partner and your baby.

1. Anticipate where you will get food and water for your baby. It may not be an issue if you are traveling to a popular tourist destination, but it may be if you are going to a more remote area.

2. Be self-sufficient when it comes to medications. Bring the medications that your baby may need for fevers, upset stomach, rashes, ear infections and diarrhea.

3. Accommodations. Think about reserving a room with a balcony that you can comfortably sit on viewing the ocean, or overlooking a mountain range. You can count on spending more time in your room as your baby will need their regular nap times.
